In Her Own Words . . .

Posted at 01:46 AM on January 25, 2009

These quotes by Hillary remind us why we are here.   If you have other favorites, share them with the village.  We will continue to do as Hillary has asked—we will  participate and debate.

When I am talking about "It Takes a Village", I'm obviously not talking just about or even primarily about geographical villages any longer, but about the network of relationships and values that do connect us and binds us together.

I'm sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we're Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.

Our lives are a mixture of different roles. Most of us are doing the best we can to find whatever the right balance is . . . For me, that balance is family, work, and service.

There cannot be true democracy unless women's voices are heard. There cannot be true democracy unless women are given the opportunity to take responsibility for their own lives. There cannot be true democracy unless all citizens are able to participate fully in the lives of their country.

We are Americans, We have the right to participate and debate any administration.

I have gone from a Barry Goldwater Republican to a New Democrat, but I think my underlying values have remained pretty constant; individual responsibility and community. I do not see those as being mutually inconsistent.

There cannot be true democracy unless women's voices are heard. There cannot be true democracy unless women are given the opportunity to take responsibility for their own lives. There cannot be true democracy unless all citizens are able to participate fully in the lives of their country.

In the Bible it says they asked Jesus how many times you should forgive, and he said 70 times 7. Well, I want you all to know that I'm keeping a chart.

If I want to knock a story off the front page, I just change my hairstyle.

Has anyone heard where the Clintons are living? Will they have dual residencies in NY and DC? Where are Chelsea and Dorothy? I haven't really heard anything in the news.

Have a great Sunday villagers.

We are off to see the Newseum today so I will BBL. This museum's mission is to provide a forum where the media and the public can gain a better understanding of each other. We visited the older building many times and loved it -- but since my perspective of the media has changed this should be an interesting visit.

Their online site provide 514 front pages from 50 countries. Check it out.

Good morning/afternoon to everyone!

Taylor, thanks for the thread of quotes by Hillary!

Here are a few more quotes:

? "Eleanor Roosevelt understood that every one of us every day has choices to make about the kind of person we are and what we wish to become. You can decide to be someone who brings people together, or you can fall prey to those who wish to divide us. You can be someone who educates yourself, or you can believe that being negative is clever and being cynical is fashionable. You have a choice."

? "I will fight against the division politics of revenge and retribution. If you put me to work for you, I will work to lift people up, not put them down."

? "In too many instances, the march to globalization has also meant the marginalization of women and girls. And that must change."

Hello Villagers!!!

Taylor enjoy your day at the Newseum!!! About the Clinton's residence, during the last Hillary event with Bon Jovi, Hillary mentioned that they are not leaving their NY home in Massapequa. Shes still and willalways be a New Yorker. She said shes just changing jobs. But I would assume they are keeping their home in DC and would be staying there most of the time since her office is there.

Hey MJ and Karel!!! Scranton, you dont have to worry about you having to pull the reins back LOL... we love your "snarking" on here. You put a smile on my face with your posts!! Anne, its sunny here too but yep, cold!!!!!! Nice to have a cuppa tea!!!

Teri good to see you post downstairs, I hope all is okay with you. I know the kids could be a handlful, so you got to find time for yourself, as what Taylor had advised.

Okay, am working on here in the computer.... will be on and off here in the village.

BBL have great Sunday villagers!!!

We had a great time at the Newseum today. Lots of attention on the rights granted by the First Amendment:: press, speech, religion, petition and assembly. It was only interesting to see a small film about the struggle between the press and government in the days of Washington, Adams, and Madison. There was moving exhibit on 9/11 and most viewers had tears by the end. They had footage I had not seen before. The bent up broadcasting tower from the top of the tower was on display.

Did anyone see National Geographics' special on Air Force One tonight? It gave me new insight on what was happening as Bush tried to return from Florida.

Be good--bbl

Hey villagers!! Its real quiet today, well it usually is quiet during the weekends.

Taylor, that Newseum sounds interesting. I would always have tears whenever I see anything about 9/11. We will never forget.

Guys, I am really am avoiding the media lately as I can not stand hearing about news and features about Nobama, his wife, his daughters, his mother in law and how they all talked about the huge turnout at that circus last Tuesday. I was watching Fox the other night and Sean Hannity was right, CNN, MSNBC and all the rest of the main stream media are again so over the top by saying that America was happy, moved and hopeful about this new Presidency installed last Tuesday. Well, NOT all Americans voted for that man. What about the 46% (not sure if my number is right) who voted for Mac?? Well, I for one isn't happy and moved and hopeful!!! I wonder how long this love affair between the media and Nobama will last.

Well, okay, its time for bed. See ya guys tomorrow. Have a good rest all!
God bless!

Good Morning, Villagers...hope everyone had a great weekend!! A nippy start to the day here, 32 degrees....blue blue skies all around!!

Before I went to bed last nite...caught a glimpse of the local news. Apparently they're floating the idea of using Alcatraz Island to house the terrorists from Gitmo. This made me soooo angry...right in the middle of San Francisco Bay. Alcatraz is a national park, tourist attraction...it's so rundown it's unliveable, let alone the idea of putting the entire Bay Area in jeopardy from attack!! Who comes up with these hair brained ideas?

Do you know that 11% of the terrorists released from Gitmo so far have gone back to their terrorist cells...attacking and killing people!! This is unconscionable...there has to be a plan to close Gitmo and those terrorists should be jailed far, far, far away from any community...certainly not in the middle of an international community!!

Had to get that off my chest this morning, thanks for bearing with me!! Hope your day is touched with sunshine!!

Oh Karel, I can't imagine it will happen. As I always say, no one added up the numbers before they threw out these half-baked ideas. I'm not sure if I understand why they would close one prison only to transfer everyone to another. It's the policies that needed to be reviewed--the problems were not the locatio. And I also saw the show where they were highlighting those that have returned to terroism. It's like the paroled system--how many return and repeat their former crimes?

Teri, thanks for posting the link in the forum. Please take care of yourself--that is one job you have to take seriously.

Taylor...I don't think it will happen either, one look at Alcatraz convinces me of that!! But it's the idea that someone would float such a ridiculous idea...that's what worries me. Is this the best and the brightest this country has to offer? Petty games aimed at Pelosi and the far left wing liberals...we've got serious problems in this country...I would hope our representatives would knuckle under and get serious about handling these issues!! Have a plan before they close Gitmo...quit winging it and that goes for our economy too!!

Welcome
