The Living House of Oz

Edward Einhorn

Illustrated by Eric Shanower

This title is author Einhorn’s highly anticipated sequel to Paradox in Oz. The Living House is home to thirteen-year-old Buddy and his sorceress mother, Mordra. One day Buddy ignores his mother’s warnings and wanders off. As a result, Buddy is accidentally kidnapped. One of Buddy’s companions, the coat rack, informs Mordra that Buddy is missing. Mordra finds Buddy’s location by casting an illegal spell and is subsequently arrested. Immediately Buddy and the Living House set off to rescue Mordra in the Emerald City. Along the way Buddy meets several fascinating characters when the Living House breaks one of its feet at the foot of a mountain. Buddy’s secret identity is revealed after Buddy arrives at Mordra’s trial and is introduced to his father and evil grandfather. This title is a wonderful addition to the “Oz” series. It is a creative and well written tale that will tickle the reader’s funny bone.

MJ, can you tell us more about the OZ series.  I'm only familiar with the original book.  But now as I write this, I remember that my aunt had a really old series of books about Oz but I never read them.  How old is this series?

I would like to have a coat rack as my friend.

I would tell you guys more about the "Oz" series if I could. It's been several years since I wrote this review. I would need to do some digging. I don't think it's an old series.

Taylor, your choice of friends is very interesting: books, a coat rack, hot tea.
